“We believe the best products are coming out this year. And they’re new products. They’re not announced. ”

If I had been paying attention on April 15th, instead of swanning around New Zealand, I would have noticed that
Facebook had launched what amounts to an elementary keyword research tool... and as I write that, I realise that
Facebook Lexicon is perhaps less elementary than some of the tools that we already pay for. An anonymous aggregation of "public and semi-public" keywords from across the site, the tool does not provide actual statistics as to how many times a keyword or two-word phrase appears, but like Google Trends, it shows spikes and trends in keyword / phrase popularity. However, it is different to a lot of keyword research tools in that we can be fairly certain that its stats are accurate.

Last week on The Office, corporate weenie Ryan visited the Scranton branch and told them that they needed to make up extra sales that their website should have brought in. He had been fervently pushing the website onto the staff, telling them that version 2.0 of the site will be even bigger and better, and that embracing new technology like online sales will skyrocket paper purchases and make their jobs easier. Unfortunately, the staff had been deeply rooted in the "old school" method of providing a great customer service experience and developing a relationship with the customer. Ryan, however, was intent on this push towards web 2.0, insisting that Dunder Mifflin's social networking feature will bring loads of young, hip people on their site to interact and hang out with each other (never mind the whole sexual predator snafu they ran into...).
I bring up this lengthy example (see the episode
here if you haven't already) because the timing of the episode was pretty spot-on. Last week I spoke at the eCommerce Summit in New Orleans (I'll be sure to post about that later this week), and Brian Smith from
ComparisonEngines.com was on the New Media Panel with me. After I gave an overview of social media and its benefits, he came to the podium and asked the single most important question every business should ask themselves before diving into the sordid world of upvotes, stumbles, tweets, pownces, and photo streams: "Do you
need to do this right now?"

When I first started at SEOmoz about 9 months ago, I was the web development intern. My experience prior to the internship was limited entirely to writing code. Since then, I have spent literally hundreds of hours expanding my knowledge into different areas. Specifically I have focused on accepted SEO techniques and small business practices. My
beginner SEO checklists of the last few weeks have been the tangible result of my newly acquired knowledge. In an effort to return to my roots, I spent the majority of the day compiling what I believe to be the mother of all technical SEO cheat sheets. The recommended viewing format of this cheat sheet is as a PDF rather than the traditional blog post (I found the blog posts inconvenient to print). Let me know if this new format works better for all of you. I also included snippets below so you can see what is on the cheat sheet before you download it. Enjoy!

search engine news Ok I’m not that dense. I’ve known that Feedburner was bought by Google mid last year. I am after all a Feedburner user and loooove Feedburner. So what am I talking about?
Recently Feedburner announced that finally they are “movin’ on up”, meaning they’re starting the Feedburner-Google Account integration. Yipee yay! Do not too get too excited (though I obviously am…I’ve been waiting for this to happen since the buy out.) because the the announcement said “selected publishers”, which I take to mean that they’ll be doing the migration step-wise giving only some people access to the integrated Feedburner. Not to worry though because they will clearly be affecting changes little by little in the next few weeks until everyone can happily get to explore the “Googlier Feedburner”. If you are one of the first to get this feature do not be too disappointed if you don’t see anything that’s radically new because they say thet’re still working on it. In the end though we can be pretty sure they will be integrating Adsense and Feedburner’s management API.

Photography is a very powerful medium and a very difficult craft. Excellent photos don’t only display some facts - they tell stories, awake feelings and manage to share with the audience the emotions a photographer experienced when clicking the shot button. Taking excellent pictures is damn hard as you need to find a perfect perspective and consider the perfect timing. To achieve brilliant photography you need practice and patience. However, it is worth it: the results can be truly stunning.
Below you’ll find 50 brilliant photos and stunning pictures - some pictures tell stories, some are incredibly beautiful, some are funny and some are very sad.
