I questioned the importance of using an HTML sitemap earlier this week, the response following this strongly suggests that they do still have a major part to play as an SEO technique.
Here’s what the poll results showed:67% Yes - All websites need a sitemap7% Yes - But only for large websites27% No
While I’m not entirely convinced this is essential for every website it’s difficult to argue with Vanessa Fox’s comment on Sphinn, especially as she used to work for Google!
“As a user, I don’t always want to navigate through to the page I’m after. I often go straight for the HTML sitemap so I can click directly on the page I’m looking for.
And the benefits of SEO are negated if the site provides a poor user experience, so I’m going with yes on the HTML sitemaps.”

We are delighted to announce that SEOptimise have today become a Google AdWords Qualified Company. This has been a major target since Stuart Tofts joined the company in April, which we are very happy to have achieved.
We actually met the criteria for becoming a qualified company earlier this month but have had to wait for the status page and logo as these are automatically updated by Google at the end of each month.

Ian Fernando has posted a video interview he did with me. The funny thing is I can’t remember doing this interview. Anyways, I figure you might enjoy this interview while I wait for Greg to upload my interview with Leo Laporte.

Around six weeks ago I reported that the UK Search Engine Optimisation spelling was now accepted by Google. I checked this query again this morning and the “Did you mean: search engine optimization” suggestion is back!

If you’re using Google Apps, you might find the fine print a little curious, as reported on News.com:
“I am a lawyer, but I don’t want to believe the words I’m reading and am trying to find an alternative rendering of the language to make Google seem less grasping.“
The passage in question is this:
